The national conversation surrounding housing and homelessness is shifting toward urgent action. But while British towns and cities dominate headlines, thousands of people in isolated coastal and rural areas face severe housing insecurity away from the spotlight.
Established in 2026, Needed Foundation exists for the prevention of homelessness and hardship. We are opening our doors to vulnerable individuals and families in coastal and rural communities—places where support is often sparse, transport is limited, and people are far too easily left behind.
We are making our first footprints on the ground in the coastal town of Newhaven, Sussex. But our vision goes much further: we have the ambition to bring change to under-resourced regions around the UK.
To turn this vision into a reality, we are now recruiting Trustees to join our inaugural Board.
Why Our Focus Matters: Ending the Rural and Coastal Crisis
Rising living costs are pushing households into unseen crises. In coastal and rural regions, homelessness rarely looks like a row of tents. It manifests as hidden rough sleeping in woodlands or derelict structures, displacement in holiday hotspots, and wide stretches of England where the nearest support hub is miles away.
We believe where you live should never determine whether you receive help. Needed Foundation will fill these gaps to provide early intervention, housing stability, and compassionate care.
Build from the Ground Up
We are seeking diverse, passionate leaders who share our determination to tackle the root causes of hardship. As an unpaid Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in setting our strategic direction, ensuring robust governance, and scaling our mission from our roots in Newhaven to new communities.
